First serialized in 1997 in "Young Animal" (Hakusensha), the story of Seiichi Tekirai's "Fist of the Dark Arena / Fist Slave Death Battle Legend CESTAS" continues to this day, 23 years later.
This long-running series, which has gained passionate support not only domestically but also worldwide, starting with Italy, is finally being adapted into a TV anime.
Set in ancient Rome, this is the coming-of-age story of a young slave named Cestas, who struggles against a harsh fate and claws his way toward freedom.
While showcasing the intense battles of fist-fighting slaves who fight with nothing but their fists, it is also an epic drama that carefully depicts the psychological portrayal of each character within a worldview based on historical facts, including the era's background and culture.
The battle scenes in the anime are authentically supervised by former professional boxer (38th OPBF East Asia Pacific Welterweight Champion / current boxing commentator) Yoshihiro Kamekai, with motion capture used to realistically render fist trajectories, breathing, and body movements, expressing tension akin to an actual match.
The heated story of fist slaves, who are allowed only to fight, now begins.
Witness Cestas's way of life as he defies destiny―
